Bobbie L. Steele is a community activist, teacher and mother.

In 1985, she was elected to the Cook County Board of Commissioners with an overwhelming victory.

In 2006 she was elected President of Cook County Board of Commissioners.

Steele is now retired but serves as an active member of three civic boards: Illinois Counties Board of Directors, Illinois Women in Leadership Board of Directors and Lawndale Christian Development Board of Directors.
